MOLEY IN DETAIL
Functionality
-
What is the difference between getting a meal prepared by a Moley kitchen and ordering a meal from a delivery service?
The Moley kitchen offers its users the ability to enjoy freshly cooked meals right in their kitchen.
Moley’s recipe list is continuously expanding, broadening the cuisine and meal type offerings.
The benefit of eating a meal prepared by the Moley kitchen is that:
- The meals are prepared fresh, in the user’s home, such that the user can enjoy the meal.
- All nutritional information is shown in the recipe, as such the user is aware of the nutritional values, calories as well as specific ingredients and allergens that may be present in the prepared meals.
- The freshness of ingredients is guaranteed. -
Do the ingredients need to be prepared by the user before starting a recipe?
The robot chef can cook a meal from start to finish.
The ingredients need to be prepared and placed inside the containers by the user.
A video on the screen instructs the user on how the specific ingredients need to be prepared, for example, how to thinly slice an onion or how to dice a chicken breast.
Alternatively, the ingredients can be ordered in the form that will be cooked in, for example, ordering diced onions. -
How many portions can the kitchen cook?
Typical recipes can be adjusted for 1 to 6 portions.
-
Can I see the calories and nutritional information of each recipe?
Nutritional information, as well as calories and allergens information is shown for each available recipe.
Recipes can be filtered by their nutritional or allergen information as well as for specific dietary requirements such as vegetarian, low salt, etc. and for different cuisines, meal types etc. -
Allergen information?
Allergen information is shown on each recipe.
-
Can the kitchen cook in two pots simultaneously?
Yes, depending on the recipe, the kitchen can utilise up to 4 pots or pans in order to prepare a recipe. For example, the robot can boil pasta in one pot, prepare the sauce into a second pot and then combine the two in order to assemble the complete dish.
-
Can recipes be altered/amended to one’s liking?
Yes, the ingredient and recipe information is a guide. The user can alter the amounts of ingredients used, such as spices, to achieve their desired outcome. However, results are not guaranteed.
-
Can I add my own recipes?
We are always looking for new recipe recommendations and we aim to expand our recipe offerings. So please, feel free to send us any recipe ideas, and our chef will work on translating them into robotic motions.
Safety & accessibility
-
Voice assistance?
Yes, the kitchen can be operated via our Moley voice assistant.
Additionally, the operations that are being carried out by the robot can be announced during robotic operation. -
Does it have an emergency button to stop?
Yes, all of our kitchens have an integrated Emergency Stop button in close proximity to the cooking zone.
-
What types of errors can happen, and how does the kitchen deal with this?
Each robotic operation, as well as each recipe as a whole, are tested numerous times by our engineers until it is ensured that they work flawlessly and achieve the required outcome. Only then, the recipes are sent to our cloud system and are accessible by the users.
In the rare occasion that the system goes into error, this may be because the robot touched an object or a surface that it wasn’t expecting, or the user has pushed the emergency stop button.
In both cases, the robot will stop in a safe manner, and power from any of the appliances such as the hob and the blender is removed.
A message appears on the screen that prompts the user to confirm that the kitchen is safe to be operated again by the robot.
The robot can then follow a recovery procedure that will bring the robot into its ‘home’ / ‘parked’ position. From there onwards, the recipe execution can continue. -
What if my pet jumps on the table?
You should always keep an eye on the kitchen while it is in robotic operation. Pets and children shall never be left unattended while the robotic kitchen is in operation.
However, in the event that your pet may jump onto the kitchen, the user should immediately press the emergency stop button, to avoid any risk of the pet getting hit by the robot.
Having said that, the robotic arms and grippers that we use in our kitchens are sensitive and will stop any robotic motion, as well as remove power from the integrated appliances, in the event that they come in contact with something unexpectedly.
Furthermore, we have carried out very elaborate force and pressure tests on our robots that have indicated that the forces that can potentially be exerted onto someone that comes in contact with the robot are well within the thresholds set out in the relevant specifications for collaborative robot applications
Sales
-
How much does it cost?
The system starts at around £80,000.
The price of the kitchen depends on the finishings, materials, as well as the number and type of kitchen units that make up the whole kitchen. -
Is the kitchen available in the US?
The system is currently available for sale in the UK and EU markets.
We are currently working towards certification for the US and Canada markets, and are looking to expand into the Middle Eastern and Asian markets as well. -
Are there different robot models?
The robotic arm and gripper models used in our kitchens are common across our robotic kitchen products.
We offer different robotic kitchen models such as:
- the X-AiR kitchen: a robotic kitchen unit that can be installed as an island, or be part of a longer kitchen.
- the B-AiR kitchen: a more compact robotic kitchen layout that is installed against the wall. -
Can the system be retrofitted into an existing kitchen?
Yes, the X-AiR kitchen can be retrofitted as an island or peninsula inside an existing kitchen, as long as power can be supplied to the robotic unit.
We have a selection of different panel and worktop finishes that can compliment the materials used in your existing kitchen. -
What is the lead time for the machine?
There is a 3 - 6 months lead time from the time of placing the order for a Moley robotic kitchen, until it is installed in the customer’s premises.
-
Kitchen installation time
It takes up to 3 days to install the finished kitchen. Our kitchen installation team will contact you 2 weeks before the installation start to align date and time.
